Elevated CO2 concentrations expand the temperature range in which RuBisCO can efficiently convert CO2 into sugar. With increased CO2 levels, the rate of the chemical reaction performed by RuBisCO also escalates with rising temperature. This occurs because the higher CO2 concentration enhances the ratio of chemical substrates to products. By increasing CO2 concentrations from the typical ambient 300 ppm to 1400 ppm, the altered ratio of reactants to products enables plants to continue fixing CO2 into sucrose even at leaf temperatures exceeding 27°C, up to approximately 35°C. Consequently, as the temperature rises, the rate of carbon fixation and plant growth increases as well. By carefully managing environmental controls, cultivators can achieve exceptionally high rates of carbon fixation and plant growth, even at leaf temperatures surpassing 30°C (90℉).
When operating at higher temperatures, such as 32°C (90℉), and utilizing CO2 levels up to 1200 ppm, it is essential to adjust the relative humidity (RH) to meet the vapor pressure deficit (VPD) values in your grow room during various phases of plant growth to ensure optimal crop performance.”
